What to Wear... Running Errands

What do y'all wear when you run errands?

I tend to reach for my yoga pants, sneakers, and work out tops. Not exactly super glamorous, but hey -- I'm comfy!

When I lived in Santa Barbara it seemed that everyone wore yoga pants, but in San Antonio, people tend to dress in "normal" clothes when they aren't at the gym!

I'm not about to abandon my laid back California girl style, but some times I need to go from errands to lunch on the weekends with friends without going home to change first.

Here is a cute, comfy alternative to my tried and true yoga pants!

What to Wear to... the Farmer's Market

I love perusing the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings! I always end up wearing yoga pants and a tank top, but the last time I was there I  noticed all of the cute outfits women were donning.

In an effort to be more stylish, I put together two outfits, perfect for the Farmer's Market. Mix and match these accessories with your ensemble of choice, and you're bound to look cooler than a cucumber! ;)

What to Wear to a... Memorial Day Back Yard BBQ

Hey y'all! Anyone have fun Memorial Day plans for Monday?

I'll be working, trying to get as much done as possible before Hubby and I head to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for his 30th Birthday next week!

If you do have plans, I hope they don't involve work - but instead, family, friends, burgers on the grill, and a drink that needs a little paper umbrella!

If I was invited to a Memorial Day BBQ I would love to wear the outfit below!

A cute top paired with casual denim shorts and gladiator sandals and a straw hat is effortlessly chic! Whatever you do, don't forget the SPF!

What to Wear This Wedding Season

Wedding season is upon us y'all! Not sure what to wear? Here are a few ideas to get you started on what you'll want to wear to all of the festivities!

What to Wear to a... Bridal Shower

A conservative sun dress is always appropriate for a bridal shower! Punch it up with some fun accessories like this teal statement necklace. Wedges are a great alternative to heels especially if the party will be held on the lawn.

What to Wear to a... Rehearsal Dinner

If you were invited to the rehearsal dinner, more than likely you are a member of the wedding party and are coming to the dinner from the rehearsal. You'll want to wear something comfortable, yet classy, especially if you'll be helping with any set up  at the rehearsal.  Bring the shoes you'll be wearing to the wedding with you to the rehearsal -- sometimes the wedding coordinator will pair bridesmaids with groomsmen based on height.

What to wear to... a wedding

My philosophy is, as long as you're not wearing white or a big poofy ball gown, anything is fair game for a wedding! If the invitation doesn't give you instructions for your attire (ie. cocktail, black tie, formal..) you can always Google the venue. Is the reception at a country club? A church? A museum? You should be able to get an idea of how fancy you should dress based on the venue. Still confused? Ask the Maid of Honor or another close friend of the bride.

Anyone have upcoming wedding festivities to attend? What are you wearing? I'd love to know!

What's in your Beach Bag?

Anybody have an upcoming beach trip planned?

Hubby and I are headed to the East Coast for his birthday in June and I can't wait to feel the sand between my toes! It is important to pack a well stocked beach bag!

Here are some of the items I like to keep handy!

Pack Your Beach Bag...

Towel: Gotta have a big fluffy towel to lay on and dry off with if I venture in the water.

Sunscreen: I am super fair and will burn to a crisp if I don't reapply constantly.

Sun Hat: The wider the brim the more it keeps the sun off of my face!

Water Bottle: The sun can dehydrate you even if you're just lounging... be sure to bring enough H20!

Snacks: I try to eat a little something every few hours, so I always have a granola bar handy.

Sunglasses: Shield your eyes from the UV rays and keep crows feet at bay.

Flip Flops: Shield your feet from the hot sand when you have to run back to the car to get more snacks!

Chap Stick: The sun always dries my lips out.

Cover Up: A cute cover up can take you from the beach to that cute little seaside bar and grill in no time!

Magazine: I love to read at the beach, especially the glossies! Perfect time to catch up on fashion and beauty tips!

Playing Cards: Sometimes the best time to play 'Go Fish' is at sea!

Bag: A mesh bag like the one above makes it easy to fold up in your suitcase and can easily be wiped out with a damp cloth.

What do you pack when you head out for some sun? Did I forget any essentials?

St. Patrick's Day Outfit Inspiration

Saint Patrick's Day is right around the corner! What will you be wearing?

The outfit below offers just the right amount of green without being obnoxious or obvious!

I'm attempting to talk myself into trying emerald nail polish for the 17th! I'll keep y'all posted if I do anything crazy!

I had a lime green polish in junior high and my mom thought it was disgusting and told me it made my nails look like I had a fungus! Needless to say I didn't wear it very often.

And looking back I will admit -- it was a pretty nasty shade! But it was from Limited Too (remember that store?) and I thought it was so cool!

Happy Monday!

Day to Night Outfit Ideas

Sometimes I have to go straight to dinner with friends or to an event from the office. And while I love to wear a suit to work, I don't really want to wear one to a friend's surprise party (last week... guilty... everyone else was dressed up in cute clothes... and I'm in a suit! Boo) I decided to create some outfits for me (and you) to get thinking about ways to transition key work wear pieces to evening pieces.

The stripe skirt is perfectly prim and proper for work with a lace peter pan collar and pale pink accessories, and the same skirt is transformed for dinner with the girls with some edgy leather and gold studded accessories.

The Oxford shirt (or any button down for that matter) is a staple in most of our closets. Paired with black pants and green accessories for work, this outfit selection is totally put together. Pair the same shirt and gold ballet flats with a flirty yellow lace mini and pearl accessories and you have an adorable date night outfit!

I hope y'all feel inspired to throw a few extras in your work tote to turn your daytime outfit into the perfect night time outfit!

Comfy Travel Attire

I love traveling -- in fact, Hubby and I are headed to Santa Barbara for my birthday next week! One thing that is a must for all plane rides is a comfy outfit! I love wearing yoga pants and a cozy sweatshirt. I usually try to wear a pair of shoes that would ordinarily take up a lot of room in my bag; either tennis shoes or boots. The outfit below is similar to something I will probably be wearing on my flight next week. Later this week I'll be posting some of my favorite carry on essentials! :)
