She's Here

Baby girl is finally here! I can't believe it! Motherhood already has its ups and downs (not a whole lot of sleep...which she started me early on with all her kicking in the womb) but man does being a mommy to this wonderful little girl is amazing ALREADY! First off..I think she is pretty cute! Wow that sounds vain but gosh she is just so perfect and gorgeous! Secondly...she is making me a better person. I now have this tiny human depending solely on me. I don't have time to think about myself unless it is for her benefit (like drinking water and eating enough to keep up with all the breastfeeding she does). Thirdly...I didn't think it was possible, but I love my husband even more! He is an incredible father to our little girl! Not only does he send me to take naps during the day (if she is awake or not) but he'll also get up at night if I need help (like if she pooped everywhere and I need back up).

I also just wanted to give you guys a heads up on some funny stuff that you may have heard or not heard about life with a newborn (or at least 3 1/2 weeks with a newborn).

1. You will get no sleep in the hospital
-I was either staring at my precious baby girl (making sure she was breathing) or trying to get         comfortable in the bed, which was impossible

2. Babies are loud
-Miss Hailey Marie makes so much noise! We get to hear her little cooing sounds she makes but on top of that, this kid sometimes sounds like she is the whole animal kingdom (I mean seriously, her elephant and pig imitations are spot on). The hubby and I have busted up laughing in bed listening to her multiple times

3. It is scary taking your newborn home
-In the hospital, even though she was in our room the whole time, I felt safe. If she was doing something weird or I had a question I could ask one of the nurses (since they came in practically every hour anyways). Getting our baby in car seat was difficult enough (she is just so tiny!!!) and then we had to fight off all the other drivers! Talk about nerve wracking! Once we got home we got our first taste of being parents....Hailey projectile vomited all over the hubby. Luckily we could both laugh about it.

4. Sleep when the baby sleeps
   - I have heard this from every veteran mom out there and this has absolutely kept me awake during the late night feedings and random wake ups with Hailey. We have been lucky that she actually is sleeping really well throughout the night (only waking up twice..I'll take it), however there are those random rough nights that we have.

I would love to hear about your tips and tricks or just funny stories about your first month with a newborn.

Happy Napping!

  6. Congratulations !
My tip, take her out as soon as possible, so that she gets used to going out and does not panick when you go with her to the restaurant or so.
That's what I did with my son, he eats and sleeps anywhere. Such a relief !
The nurses agreed with that idea, fresh air is good for babies :)
