Family Time Over The Holidays

Hubby and I celebrated Christmas this year in California with my family. We had the best time visiting with my grandparents, hanging out with my parents, Kir, and her hubby, and playing non-stop with our niece.

One afternoon we ventured over to Micke Grove Park. We went to the zoo and ended up being one of  three families visiting the little zoo that day! That gave us lots of time to spend at each exhibit and we even got to chat with some of the zoo keepers.

After the zoo, we strolled over to the Japanese Tea Garden to show Hailey the fish and snap a few photos!

I'm not exactly a photographer (something I am working on) and these were snapped with my iPhone. However, I do think it is important to have fun candid photos to look back on.

Here are my snapshots from the day...

We had a wonderful time enjoying each others company and the sunshine!

Fore!

While Hubby and I were visiting my parents we played a lot of golf!

It was so nice to be able to spend time with my dad, doing one of his favorite hobbies.

While I am not the best golfer (I am getting better!), it is a fun activity because everyone can be as good (or as bad) and it doesn't necessarily effect the game for the other participants.

Setting the score card aside, it was a fabulous time being out doors and spending time with the people I love the most!

One of the things I love about golf is the cute clothes! If I'm going to keep playing, I should probably add a few new golf outfits to my wardrobe.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Have a fabulous weekend!

Horsin' Around!

While Hubby and I were visiting my parents, they treated us to a horseback riding trip in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at Kennedy Meadows Resort

The scenery was absolutely gorgeous! Lush, green foliage, a rushing stream, waterfalls, and fresh mountain air were a perfect way to detox after taking the California Bar Exam the week prior.

We went on a 3.5 hour trail ride  and marked the half-way point at the gorgeous Relief Reservoir.

Hubby and Me! Check out that view in the background!

Hubby's horse, Thunder, wasn't thrilled to be on our trail ride!
He stopped multiple times up the mountain and wouldn't budge.

Hubby and me with our amazing guide!

 My mom and me!

On our way back down the mountain it started pouring rain! By the time we got back to the barn we were absolutely drenched! Luckily we packed a change of clothes or it could have been one miserable, soggy ride home!

If y'all are ever in Northern California and are looking for a fun trial ride, I highly recommend Kennedy Meadows! The staff was so nice, even though we arrived about 15 minutes late (we got lost!)  It was so fun, because it was just my family (mom, dad, hubby and I) and our guide, so we could talk and joke and not worry about anyone else. Plus the scenery was amazing!

Thankfulness

It’s finally Thanksgiving Week! I am so, so, so, so excited! Hubby and I leave tomorrow morning to visit my family in California! And I am so ecstatic to see Kir! It has been way too long! I wanted to start off this week by listing the top 10 things I am thankful for.

10.       Passing the Texas Bar Exam – so thankful for the opportunity to be a lawyer and even  more grateful for the fact that women’s rights have come so far in this country to allow me to pursue a career that used to be dominated by men.

9.         The ability to travel to visit family and friends and see new places – so grateful I get to see my family and super excited to travel to exotic lands over New Years (more details coming soon)!!

8.         Fresh fruits and veggies, access to food and clean water – luxuries I don’t even really  think about.

7.         My little apartment – hubby and I are so lucky to live where we do and pay the rent that   we do.

6.         Hot running water, indoor plumbing, and electricity – ya know, all the little things I take for granted everyday!

5.         My health – so thankful that I am healthy and can do all of the things I want to do.

4.         My sister – even though we fight I always know she’s got my back!

3.         My Mom and Dad – so thankful that they raised me to be strong and independent and grateful for their endless love and support.

2.         My Hubby – so thankful for all of his love, support, compassion, sweetness, and sense of humor.

1.         God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit – and so thankful I live in a country where I can worship  freely!

What are y’all thankful for this year?
