Fall Bucket List

It kind of feels like Fall in San Antonio...

While temperatures are still fairly warm, we have been experiencing thunderstorms and lots of clouds. Sort of Fall, right?

I decided to make a short and sweet bucket list for autumn. Some of the items are on my 101 in 1001 list and others are simply seasonal things to do.

What are your plans for the fall?

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

We are finally in full FALL mode here in the bay area (just wait the weather will change once I post this to being hot again). We have fog and cold and sweaters and boots! It is wonderful and I love it! Since the weather is finally cooperating, I decided to make something pumpkin and of course it had to be muffins!

These muffins are so so so amazing! Like I am not even joking I probably could have eaten all of them but Hailey was staring at me, so I decided not to. As I am writing this post I would like to state that I have only eaten one (the muffin that is pictured) along with part of Hailey's mini muffin (without chocolate chips). Not bad right?!

Alright well I guess I better give you all the recipe so you can go make some pumpkin deliciousness and eat it for breakfast, snack time, lunch dessert and after dinner dessert?! I think that would work out nicely!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon apple pie spice (or pumpkin pie spice....I just didn't have any)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine wet ingredients until well incorporated. Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl.  Gently mix in dry ingredients into wet until everything is mixed nicely! Fold in chocolate chips and fill muffin tins (either greased or with muffin paper thingys) 3/4 of the way full. Bake at 400 for 15-17 minutes (do not over bake!) Let cool in muffin pan for 5 minutes or until you can transfer them to a cooling rack.

Hope you enjoy these delicious muffins as much as Hailey and I do!

    Happy Fall!

    Puffer [Fish]...

San Antonio did not get the memo that the temperature is supposed to start dropping. We're still in the 90's y'all! So hot!

I'm just patiently waiting until it cools down so I can wear my new puffer vest! Any day now...

I love a good puffer vest, so I rounded up some of my fall favorites! Enjoy!

    Anyone else love puffy vests?

    First Day of Fall...

Can you believe it? The first day of fall? While I'm still sweating my eyeballs out in San Antonio, I know some of y'all must be experiencing cooler temps.

I love autumn home decor and this year, since I am a homeowner, I am super exciting to decorate! In an effort to curate some inspiration I've scoured Pinterest for some incredible fall porch decor.

    Enjoy!

Any fun plans for fall? Anyone going to decorate their porch?

    For Your Viewing Pleasure...

Woo hoo! We made it to Friday! What a week, y'all!

The weather has been so strange in San Antonio, with temperatures in the 90's and light rain throughout the week. However, rumor has it cooler temps are coming my way -- which is super exciting -- because over Labor Day Weekend I snagged this puffy vest that I cannot wait to wear!

Here are some fun links! Enjoy!

Hipster Barbie on Instagram is sure to give you a good chuckle!

I'm currently reading the book Everybody Rise, which was recommended by Carly from the College Prepster.

    Obsessed with these bangles

If you're making a fall bucket list, here are 100 ideas to help get you started.

Any fun plans for the weekend? This girl's gotta work, but hopefully I'll have time to fit in a little bit of fun!

    Sweater Weather...

While it is still hot, humid, and well into the 90's in San Antonio, stores are gearing up for fall. The thought of trying on autumn attire makes me sweat just thinking about it, but it is nice to know that cool, crisp air will make its way to the south west at some point in the next few months.

Since it never gets too terribly cold in San Antonio, I am a big fan of thin, lightweight sweaters to keep me warm when the temperatures drop.

Here are a few that I hope to add to my wardrobe.

Is it sweater weather where you live? Where is your favorite place to buy sweaters?

    Trench Coats

While fall weather hasn't made its way to San Antonio quite yet, fall fashion definitely has arrived! Every storefront I pass is showcasing this season's sweaters, scarves, boots, and ... the iconic trench coat!

A trench is on by list of "classic garments every woman should own" and I am hoping to pull the trigger soon.

Here are some of my current favorites...

I'm loving the price on the J.Crew Factory trench -- currently on sale for $99.00! What a steal!

Do you have a trench? Does it get a lot of wear?

    Shake Your Booties...

While it is far from Fall weather in San Antonio, I can't help but notice all of the autumn trends making their way into the stores and online.

Once trend I plan on embracing this season is the bootie!

Here are a few of my favorites...

I love the Nine West pair, but there is no way I could squeeze my fat feet into those pointy toes! I also think the Steve Madden pair would look great with jeans, a plaid button down, and a puffer vest for when the temperatures drop in the next few months!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

We hope everyone is celebrating with friends and family!

We thought it would be fun to do a little Thanksgiving Q&A to share some of our favorite memories and traditions:

What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?

M: Sweet potato casserole -- ya know? The one with the marshmallows on top!

K: Sweet potato casserole for sure!

What is your earliest Thanksgiving memory?

M: I remember in Kindergarten we had a big feast. Half of the class dressed up like Pilgrims and the other half dressed up like Indians. I was a Pilgrim. I had a paper bonnet and collar.  the Indians had vests made of paper bags and necklaces made from macaroni. I'm pretty sure my mom helped with the classroom feast.

K: I remember hating turkey when I was little so all I looked forward to was eating the cranberry sauce and sweet potato casserole, oh and my mom's wheat rolls! Those were amazing. I also remember doing the kindergarten thanksgiving feast thing (Meg and I had the same teacher, just a few years apart obviously).

Have you ever shopped Black Friday?

M: Oh yeah! I have some fond memories with Kir and my mom hitting up the stores, bundled up, with coffee in hand, ready to score the best deals! This was when the stores opened at 6 AM on Friday. Now it is too crazy! I haven't gone in a number of years. (Wow! I sound like an old lady!)

K: I just went for the coffee and snack :) I hated shopping when I was younger! I was awful! But I do miss just getting up early and going with my mom and Meg.

What are you most thankful for this year?

M: Gosh! This year has been full of so many blessings! The law firm was quite successful this year and I passed the California bar exam! But I'm really thankful that Hubby and I are healthy and happy!

K: I am thankful for my hubby and our families and of course our baby girl! Maybe she'll decide to come today!

    Have a great day!

    XOXO
