What A Spectacle...

Happy Leap Year! How are y'all spending this extra day of February?

I'm working at the Santa Barbara office today and hoping to leave before the sun goes down so I can catch the sunset!

Today I want to talk eyewear. While I typically wear contacts everyday, I do wear my glasses at night around the house and on the plane when I am traveling. (Anyone else get super dry eyes when flying?)

The glasses I currently have are a super old prescription and I am in dire need of an upgrade. The reason I have waited so long is because a) I am cheap and glasses are expensive and b) finding a super cute pair is hard work.

I've been trying to narrow my search by looking online. Here are my top choices!

I bought my last pair of glasses at a Target store. I'm kind of leaning toward a pair from Warby Parker or David Kind this time around. Both brands offer the option to try on multiple pairs at home. I like the idea of being able to try them on and wear them around to ensure that I like a particular style.  I am also a little nervous about ordering glasses on line.  what if they get my prescription wrong. What if the lenses are scratched? What if the frames don't fit perfectly? Has anyone tried these companies? I'd love any insight!

Shake Your Booties...

While it is far from Fall weather in San Antonio, I can't help but notice all of the autumn trends making their way into the stores and online.

Once trend I plan on embracing this season is the bootie!

Here are a few of my favorites...

I love the Nine West pair, but there is no way I could squeeze my fat feet into those pointy toes! I also think the Steve Madden pair would look great with jeans, a plaid button down, and a puffer vest for when the temperatures drop in the next few months!

Artificial Plants and Trees

I'll be the first to admit, I have no green thumb -- whatsoever.

It seems that I buy a $3.99 potted basil at Trader Joe's every month or so. I cannot keep that darn thing alive.

I've noticed there are a number of corners in my house that look a little lonely and I think a potted plant would fill the space really nicely. However, with all the traveling I do for work, it just doesn't make sense for me to invest in live plants.

I used silk florals for my own wedding and I was really surprised by the quality of the faux blooms. I'm currently looking for some artificial plants or trees to liven up my house. Here are a few I've got my eye on...

Any favorites?

I really like the bamboo from Ikea!

Happy Friday!

Gallery Wall

I'm a huge fan of a bold gallery wall and -- lucky for me -- Hubby is amazing at hanging perfectly spaced picture frames.

I purchased a vintage travel calendar from Anthropologie when I was in college and I had three of the prints hanging in my law school apartment.

When Hubby and I moved to our new house in December, we knew we wanted to frame more of the prints to make a statement in our kitchen.

We ended up framing eight prints and I couldn't be more pleased with the results.

The frames are from Ikea and include the matting. We hung the frames an inch apart from one another.

My favorite print is the one on the top left with the blonde girl heading out to travel the world.

Paint Color | Valspar Urban Sunrise

As I mentioned above, the prints are from a travel calendar I purchased close to six years ago. It is obviously no longer available, but -- have no fear --  Anthropologie has some incredibly gorgeous frame worthy calendars that are sure to pack a punch on any wall! Below are my favorites:

Has anyone created a gallery wall? Did you go for symmetrical or more free flowing?

A Black & White Graphic Living Room

Ever since Hubby and I moved into our new house, I have been way into home decor. It is so much fun to create and style a home that is totally us. While our home is still a work in progress (photos coming soon -- I promise), I wanted to share a design concept that I love -- black and white.

How gorgeous is this living room! I love the punchy art, delicate gold details, and geometric patterned pillows.

I thought it would be fun to try and re-create this -- but on a budget -- a $1,300.00 budget!

Printable PDF Art | Modern Printable Art | $5.95

And the grand total is (drum roll please...)

$1,211.20

Not too bad considering I needed to find a sofa and a rug -- fairly big ticket items!

I actually have the white Ikea sofa I included above -- and it is great! Super comfy and the slip covers easily come off for a quick wash!

Anyone else a huge black and white home decor fan?

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

I adore the Lilly Pulitzer brand. Unfortunately, my wallet doesn't agree with some (okay most) of the price tags. So, in all honesty, I don't actually own any Lilly.

But -- I'm hoping that is all about to change! On April 19th, the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collaboration hits Target stores and Target.com! The prices are very affordable and the fashion and lifestyle pieces are adorable! That's a win-win in my book!

Here are some of my favorite pieces from the collection!

Anybody planning on picking up some cute Lilly Pulitzer for Target pieces? The napkins would be perfect for a summer soiree, don't you think? And the shift dress is a total classic!
