Best of ... Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale

Can y'all believe it is June 1st? Crazy, right?

Life has been a blend of home improvement projects and work, with a little bit of fun mixed in!

Hubby and I are leaving tomorrow for Chicago to celebrate his birthday! He grew up outside of Chicago, so he is really excited to show me his hometown. If anyone has any suggestions on neat places to eat or things to do, please, please, please leave a comment!

The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is currently going on until June 5th. This is an amazing sale and the perfect time to stock up on some summer essentials, especially if you are trying to build a capsule wardrobe for summer!

Here are my favorites!

Black Tie Formal...

Hubby and I are going to our first black tie event this coming Saturday. We are really excited to get dressed up and even more excited to support the Blood and Tissue Foundation. Our friends are chairing this years Red and White Ball and we have other friends who will also be in attendance. It should be tons of fun!

I had a tough time finding a dress for the event. There are few affordable formal dresses for women in my age bracket. Everything I found was either for prom or for the mother of the bride!

I originally planned on using Rent the Runway. Here are the dresses I was contemplating....

I love the concept of rent the runway, but for me, not owning anything at the end of the day just feels like a poor investment.

Ultimately, I decided to purchase a dress. Here were my top contenders...

Wonder which one I picked? You'll after to wait until after the ball...

Shake Your Booties...

While it is far from Fall weather in San Antonio, I can't help but notice all of the autumn trends making their way into the stores and online.

Once trend I plan on embracing this season is the bootie!

Here are a few of my favorites...

I love the Nine West pair, but there is no way I could squeeze my fat feet into those pointy toes! I also think the Steve Madden pair would look great with jeans, a plaid button down, and a puffer vest for when the temperatures drop in the next few months!

Jump On It...

Y'all... I really want to embrace the jumpsuit craze. But, I'm gonna be honest... I'm scared!

I love the way jumpsuits look, but I'm not sure how one will look on me. Hubby thinks they are kind of weird and I can hear my mom now... "What are you wearing?"

Nonetheless, I really want to buy one. Has anyone tried this trend? How did it work out for you?

Here are a few jumpsuits I'm considering...

What do y'all think? Which one is your favorite?

I love the little black number from J.Crew Factory.

Cocktail Attire

This Saturday, Hubby and I will be attending the Woodlawn Theatre's First Annual Gala! I am a member of the Board of Directors at the Woodlawn Theatre and I am so excited for this event! The theatre is revealing its 2015 Season with songs from each of the musicals that will be performed next year!

The event calls for cocktail attire! I love any excuse to get all fancy and glam!

I already have my dress and shoes picked out (pictures coming soon!), but I still wanted to "window shop" to see what was out there!

Here are a few of my favorite cocktail dresses!

St. Patrick's Day Outfit Inspiration

Saint Patrick's Day is right around the corner! What will you be wearing?

The outfit below offers just the right amount of green without being obnoxious or obvious!

I'm attempting to talk myself into trying emerald nail polish for the 17th! I'll keep y'all posted if I do anything crazy!

I had a lime green polish in junior high and my mom thought it was disgusting and told me it made my nails look like I had a fungus! Needless to say I didn't wear it very often.

And looking back I will admit -- it was a pretty nasty shade! But it was from Limited Too (remember that store?) and I thought it was so cool!

Happy Monday!

XOXO

Holiday Fashion

I have no idea what I will be wearing this holiday season, but if the stars aligned and all my student debt went away (I wish) and Santa delivered a big fat check to reinvent my wardrobe, I think I would choose a few of these fabulous items below! What are y'all wearing this holiday season? Dressing up? Dressing down?

All of these items are so fun, sparkly, and perfect for a holiday party! I have a crazy busy weekend coming up -- the ballet tonight, a graduation on Saturday, and a play on Sunday. I'll be putting together some cute outfits to share with ya soon!

XOXO
